COST CONNECT: An interdisciplinary forum on Next Generation Internet

COST CONNECT: An interdisciplinary forum on Next Generation Internet

The COST Connect workshop on “Next Generation Internet” will be an open space for participants to identify and discuss how they can best contribute and reflect on the current state of the art, and to identify and provide input on desirable developments on the future of the internet.

The Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative of the European Commission, which started in 2016, has the aim to develop a more human-centric internet, supporting European values of openness, cooperation across borders, decentralisation, inclusiveness, transparency and protection of privacy. This initiative targets Europe's best brains from academia and hi-tech start-ups and focusses on a human-centric internet that embraces Europe’s needs and values.

This COST Connect Workshop, co-organised by DG CONNECT and COST, is part of this initiative. This highly-interactive forum aims at bringing together relevant COST Actions, European research projects, funding initiatives and researchers to reflect on the current state of the art, and to identify and provide input on desirable developments on the future of the internet. Internet experts, innovators, interdisciplinary field researchers and end-users will be invited to share ideas on the internet of 2030 and how to shape Europe’s role in its development.

The event is by invitation only.
